Teacher's Aide
Teachers' Aides are a great resource to both students and instructors. A teacher's aide assists the instructor in the classroom in a variety of ways: providing specialized attention for students needing additional help, supporting the instructor during instruction, and helping to plan lessons for class activities. This may be an opportunity for college students or young professionals interested in studying a particular field to gain experience preparing for a class and working with students directly.
If you have an interest in becoming a teacher's aide, please contact Shannon Murphy This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Mentors
Mentors gives young people tools that they need to transform their lives and communities through education, skill building, and service. The adult volunteers in our mentoring program commit to supporting and guiding a young person for a period of 15 months. By becoming a part of the social network of adults and community members who care about the youth, a mentor can help a young person develop and reach positive academic, career, and personal goals.

General Support
We are always open to volunteers for general services who would be willing to help out in a wide range of areas. Sample projects include: tutoring students, providing administrative support, serving as guest speakers, or working with students to develop leadership skills, life skills or professional development skills. If you have a general interest in offering your time to help, please contact Shannon Murphy This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Leadership Development
Volunteers interested in leadership development can get involved working with our students both inside and outside of the classroom to nurture their leadership abilities. Guest speakers are welcome to come in during a class and share their expertise on a particular subject matter. We also conduct workshops and lecture series after school and have a student leadership council and policy committee, all of which can benefit from volunteers interested in assisting.
If you would like to conduct a workshop or have our students participate in a leadership event or workshop, please contact Quardricos Driskell 202-319-2230 This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Professional Development
We welcome volunteers interested in professional development to assist and support our youth with job interview preparation, job placement, training and internships. Also, as a complement to their classroom training at the school, students benefit from meeting with and/or shadowing professionals from various careers.
