Student Support Services
The YouthBuild PCS Student Support Services Program has a singular focus: to assist students with overcoming challenges, barriers and obstacles that impede their ability to be successful in school and, ultimately in life. At the beginning of the school year, students participate in a needs assessment and are linked to the appropriate service providers. A case manager then closely monitors each student’s attendance and progress, conducting interventions when necessary. This program is not only instrumental in supporting the students while in school, but through an Alumni Support Program, students are able to receive services once they have completed the school. Specific services provided through the Support Services Program include: substance abuse counseling, individual/group counseling and assistance with obtaining housing, daycare, and medical insurance. Additionally, we offer Life Skills and Psychology classes, aimed at preventative education, that utilize curricula and assessments focusing on social and emotional development.
Mentoring Program
YouthBuild PCS’s mentoring program is provided in partnership with YouthBuild USA and the Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The mentoring program provides role models for students and helps students develop both socially and emotionally. Students who are between the ages of 16 -18 years old are eligible to participate in YouthBuild’s Mentoring Program. Youth are matched with caring, positive adults ideally employed in the same industry that is of interest to the student providing guidance and encouragement during the school year and support making career and personal choices after YouthBuild PCS.
